Visit of the Slovenian Delegation to the Municipality of Žabljak

In early November, the leadership of the Centre for International Cooperation and Development (CMSR) visited Montenegro together with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia (MZEZ) for discussions on successfully completed projects in the fields of sustainable development, energy and e-mobility.

Particular focus was given to the Municipality of Žabljak, where the Republic of Slovenia has co-financed several projects in recent years that have greatly improved infrastructure, tourism and residents' quality of life. The delegation was led by the Slovenian Ambassador to Montenegro, Ms Bernarda Gradišnik, and included:

  • Edvin Skrt, Director-General of the Directorate for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (MZEZ);
  • Dr. Eva Nastav, Director of the Sector for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (MZEZ);
  • Dejan Prešiček, Director of the CMSR;
  • Mojca Kopše, Head of the Department of International Development Cooperation
  • Borut Valenčič, Economic Adviser.

During the visit, the delegation toured several projects that have been successfully completed with Slovenian co-financing, including a recycling yard, a sports hall, the municipal landfill and the 'Gorske oči' hotel. The reopening of the recycling yard in Žabljak is an important step towards cleaner environments and sustainable regional development.

The leadership of the Municipality of Žabljak expressed their gratitude to the Slovenian partners for their long-term support and successful cooperation, which has contributed to the municipality’s development.

The visit also served to monitor the implementation of the “Measures for Energy Efficiency” project, which is being carried out by CMSR in cooperation with the Eco Fund of Montenegro and with the support of the Ministry of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy of the Republic of Slovenia.
