During a diplomatic consultation in the Albanian capital of Tirana, Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon also visited the Centre for Vocational and Food Safety Training at the University of Agronomy, where Slovenia equipped laboratories through the CMSR between 2014 and 2016, together with USAID Worldwide, as part of a development project.
Within the project "Establishment of the Centre for Vocational Education and Training", the premises of the Centre were built and equipped, and the employees were trained. On 530 square meters, 3 laboratories, three rehearsal halls, a lecture hall and 4 offices have been established, and the capacity is sufficient for 15 employees and 100 students. The Centre educates 200-300 students annually, and the training includes laboratory diagnostics for the implementation of biological and haematological analyses, early diagnosis, demanding veterinary surgical techniques, and ecographic and endoscopic diagnosis of clinical diseases in animals.
The operation of the Centre for Vocational Education and Training thus provided the conditions for greater efficiency of agriculture and the promotion of employment in this sector. In the long term, the role of academia in agriculture has also been strengthened.
The project was co-financed in 2014, and the opening of the Centre took place in February 2016. The total value of the project was EUR 368,398.80, and the RS donation was EUR 185,000.00.
