4. 7. 2024

Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Republic of Slovenia has officially supported the implementation of the projects "GreenAct" in North Macedonia and "Circular bio-waste management in Kamenica" in Kosovo.

The Municipality of Aračinovo will install photovoltaic mechanisms for electricity generation and replace the heating systems of three public buildings in the municipality of Aračinovo, as well as implement an educational campaign on energy efficiency and renewable energy

The objectives of the project are to provide self-sufficient electricity from renewable energy sources, to strengthen regional energy security, to provide green energy for the operation of public infrastructure, and to address the challenges of air pollution and related health problems. The project will contribute to North Macedonia's transition to a low-carbon economy that makes efficient use of natural resources, is safe and sustainable, and is in line with the EU's broader climate change and environmental objectives. As part of the project, three mechanisms of photovoltaic systems for electricity generation and the installation of heat pumps will be installed at Gjergj Kastrioti and Bajram Shabani primary schools and at the municipal administration building. In addition, the project will replace 510 interior lamps in public buildings with new high-efficiency electronic lamps.

As part of the second project, a bio-waste composting plant will be set up, which will enable the city to be more sustainable and more ecologically aware. Both projects will significantly improve the quality of life of the local community and mitigate the negative impacts of climate change. At the same time they will address environmental protection through their activities. The projects are co-funded by the Climate Fund of the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy. The Centre for International Cooperation and Development - CMSR is the implementing partner.
