Meeting with the founders and former directors of the CMSR
24. 1. 2024
To understand the present, we need to know the past.
At the invitation of the acting director of the CMSR, the former directors of the Centre attended an informal lunch.
It was a great pleasure and pride to meet the founders of the Centre for Study and Cooperation of Yugoslavia with Developing Countries. In the 60s of the 20th century, students studied developing countries in a study circle at the Faculty of Political Sciences (now the Faculty of Social Sciences).
In the 1960s, students including Dr Boris Cizelj and Dr Marjan Svetličič studied developing countries in a study group at the Faculty of Political Sciences (now the Faculty of Social Sciences). In 1966, a successful conference was organised, which confirmed the need for an institution in this field. On 18. 12. 1966, the Centre for Study and Cooperation of Yugoslavia with Developing Countries was established within the Faculty. The Centre had members from all over Yugoslavia.
Such meetings are valuable in developing debates on similarities and differences, on current issues, on recurring histories, and we hope to meet next year, as well.
